Ghost in the Shell, the amazingly popular action-thinking film. Now it's a TV series. So how is it? Well I never really liked the movie, but I find the TV series to be quite boring to watch. Each episode seems to be pretty self contained, and although I'm sure it's building up to something, it just seems like there isn't enough there for me to be interested at all. At least with the movie I was interested in seeing how things turned out, but with these two episodes I was just thinking, "Either give me more of an overall plot line or let the episodes end!" I get the feeling they're trying to stick another movie's worth of plot in 26 episodes. Of course, it is just two episodes, but that's why I'm writing this page, to give initial impressions!
The 3D CG looks pretty nice, I haven't had any major problems with it clashing. It does clash in places but it's usually short, minor scenes. However, one of the things that makes the show even worse to watch is that Kusanagi's outfit is TERRIBLE! Who the heck designed that?! And the color... UGH! Makes the show even more painful to watch. Oh well, it could just be my taste, but I'm usually not so put off by outfits when they're just not my favorite kind... The music is by Kanno Youko, of course, and I do enjoy it, especially the opening and ending songs. They kinda caught me when I listened to them for the second episode. :)
I may keep an eye on this series to see if anything interesting develops but I doubt I'll be watching it on any regular basis. ^^;; |
