Woo, guns, wordless "cool" guys, some incompetent girl out for revenge... yippee.
So Gungrave is about this scientist bringing this guy who used to be named Brandon Heat back to life in a stronger incarnation that uses guns to destroy agents of the organization that is chasing after Mika. Mika lost her mother to some big syndicate from which they were running away, and she's sworn to get revenge for her, but she's basically powerless, so she just whines about it a lot. Then the syndicate tries to come capture her, but as he is touched by her attempt to make a grave marker out of little stones, Beyond the Grave (Brandon's new, wonderfully English name) beats everyone up instead. There are some scenes from inside the syndicate, with Bob the programmer and some other people meeting with the Boss, but all that really comes out of that is the Boss laughing maniacally that Brandon Heat should just try and betray him again and staring out the window.
That's basically it. Mika is pretty annoying considering how little conversation there is, so even that trace of enjoyment was taken away from me. Oh, the other thing that annoyed me about this series was how -everything- was dark. Maybe it was meant to be "cool," but it just made it so I couldn't see anything in half the scenes. Anyway, some engineered thing with an Engrishy name shooting things with guns isn't enough to keep me captivated for long! --; |
